Freedom + Pleasure vs. Productivity

I have a client who has playful and freedom-loving Artisan and Sage Talents along with productivity driving Warrior. She has been thinking that she’s experiencing a battle of one vs. the other, all fun or no play – with no way out.

Looking at the Lessons of the 7 Talents (growing in maturity from 1 to 4), I realized that it wasn’t an issue of competing Talents, but a stifling of her impulses that created the intense antagonism. When her Artisan and Sage (in maturity of Lesson 3) want some pleasure and fun, she’d do best to enjoy some of it right then. A small step into pleasure greases the wheels of productivity.

If she doesn’t take a step, her Artisan sinks in its lessons (goes from 3 to 2) and starts craving, her Warrior sinks (3 to 2) and struggles to hold it in, Artisan rebel pressure builds (now in 1), and it does seem like an explosion is coming! But the conflict is merely a byproduct. It all starts because she didn’t take that small step into pleasure in the beginning…

A small step of pleasure isn’t a tip of an iceberg (if I do one small thing of pleasure, I’ll never come back to work and lose a whole day), it is instead a strategic collaborator, providing an opportunity to savor a gourmet snack that soothes your appetite for another couple of hours.
